Job Department: Technology

About Snapsheet: Snapsheet is an industry-leading tech company building products that make insurance simple, for everyone. We create platforms that drive efficiencies using data and technology to enable the fastest and most accurate claims processing in the industry.

About the Role + Team: We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our growing Data team at Snapsheet. This is a critical role for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, guiding engineers in implementation and architectural decision-making, and helping evolve our data infrastructure for both immediate improvements and long-term scalability.

You’ll lead a team responsible for two core initiatives:

  • Synthesis, our homegrown ETL platform
  • Vice Metrics, the service powering embedded analytics within our Cloud platform, built on the Sisense BI tool

In this role, you’ll be focused on maturing our data pipeline and platform capabilities—delivering robust data validation, implementing end-to-end testing, and building monitoring tools to support developers and engineers alike. We're looking for a technical leader who thrives on solving real-world data challenges and is excited to build the next generation of our data platform.

The Data team currently consists of four engineers: a team lead, two senior engineers, and one junior engineer. You’ll help lead them through scaling our current platform, improving data consistency and replication reliability, and ultimately driving towards a more standardized, stable, and scalable solution.

At Snapsheet, Engineering Managers are not just people leaders—they’re also strategic technical contributors who are passionate about guiding engineers and shipping quality code.

What you will do as an Engineering Manager:

  • Own the planning, execution, and delivery of critical data infrastructure projects.
  • Lead, mentor, and support a high-performing team of engineers through 1:1s, feedback, code reviews, and career development.

  • Guide architectural decisions and hands-on implementation—especially for data validation, replication, and observability efforts.
  • Take charge of team rituals including grooming, retrospectives, and sprint planning.
  • Shape and execute the team roadmap in collaboration with internal stakeholders—aligning engineering output with business goals.
  • Champion scalable and stable solutions for our data pipelines and reporting systems.
  • Work closely with BI analysts, product teams, and support engineers to meet both customer-facing and internal reporting needs.
  • Help define and drive Snapsheet’s long-term data engineering strategy.
  • Partner with our internal recruitment team to identify and hire top talent.

What we are looking for:

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related STEM field
  • 8+ years of experience in full-stack software engineering, ideally with a focus in data
  • 3+ years of experience in a team lead, tech lead, or engineering manager role
  • Deep understanding of data engineering principles, including ETL pipelines, data validation, and scalability
  • Experience working with relational databases, API design, and performance tuning
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (especially AWS), and services like Kafka, Spark, and DMS
  • Hands-on experience with Ruby and React is a plus
  • A strong interest in leading technical strategy while staying involved in the codebase
  • A collaborative mindset and a passion for building reliable, customer-facing data products

Technologies we use:

  • Infrastructure: MySQL, Redis, AWS, Docker, CloudFront, Kafka, AWS DMS, Sisense (on-prem BI)
  • Languages: Ruby, JavaScript, SQL
  • Frameworks: Rails, React, Spark
  • Communication & Task Management: Slack, Jira, Atlassian, Confluence

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
